APPENDIX D DESIGN 3C - SCHOOL BUILDINGS FOR MINNESOTA - 1924 When ventilating room heaters are used, there should be two smoke flues, one for the heater in the basement and the other for the heater in the school room. The heat- ers must be of an approved type with a shield surrounding the heater so as to permit of free passage of air between the heater and the shield. For a building of this size the grate area of coal burning heater should be at least 240 square inches. The building is a complete unit, mal[ing it unnecessary to erect any outbuildings for fuel and toilets.
