APPENDIX D <br />DESIGN 3C - SCHOOL BUILDINGS FOR MINNESOTA - 1924 <br />When ventilating room heaters are used, there should be two smoke flues, one for <br />the heater in the basement and the other for the heater in the school room. The heat- <br />ers must be of an approved type with a shield surrounding the heater so as to permit <br />of free passage of air between the heater and the shield. For a building of this size <br />the grate area of coal burning heater should be at least 240 square inches. <br />The building is a complete unit, mal[ing it unnecessary to erect any outbuildings <br />for fuel and toilets.
