Bear, City Administrator <br />FROM: Ron Otkin, Finance Director <br />SUBJECT: Appoint Amber Lozier to Position of Finance and Public Works Administrative Assistant <br />DATE: For the City Council Meeting of September 17, 2018 <br />DESIRED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Adoption of Consent Agenda Including Appointing Amber Lozier to position of Finance and Public Works Administrative <br />Assistant. <br />BACKGROUND <br />At its September 4, 2018 meeting, the City Council approved the job description for a Finance and Public Works <br />Administrative Assistant. This inter -departmental position will provide assistance to both the Finance and Public Works <br />Departments. Amber Lozier was hired in February, 2015, as a temporary part-time Scanning Technician. She worked <br />under the supervision of the City Clerk and assisted with document scanning for the laser fiche project. <br />In addition to her part-time position with the City of Hugo, Amber is employed by the Family Pathways Thrift Store in <br />Wyoming as a Sales Associate. She is also taking classes at Normandale Community College, with an emphasis on <br />Accounting. Both Finance Coordinator Anna Wobse and Public Works Director Scott Anderson believe Amber has the <br />skills and temperament to take on the duties as provided for in the job description. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is their recommendation that Amber be appointed to the recently created position of Finance and Public Works <br />Administrative Assistant, with a start date of October 8, 2018. This position is slotted at Pay Grade 4, Minimum <br />($42,228 - $55,012) and will be funded from the general fund (50%), with the balance from water and sewer. Her office <br />will be at the public works facility. It is anticipated she will concentrate on her public works clerical duties before <br />beginning to assist with accounts payable. <br />Please place this item on the consent agenda for the September 17, 2018 City Council meeting. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Approved Job Description <br />
