Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of June 20, 2018 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Approve Minutes from May 16, 2018 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of May 16, 2018. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br />Lions Park Playground Proposals <br />At the meeting of May 16, 2018, the Parks Commission requested proposals for a playground to be installed <br />in Lions Park this summer. The existing playground has deteriorated and is need of replacement. At their <br />June 4, 2018 meeting, the City Council approved funding not to exceed $100,000 to replace the playground at <br />Lions Park. A request for proposals was sent out and four vendors will present a design for consideration by <br />the Commission and residents. A notification was sent to residents in the neighborhood to invite them to <br />participate in the selection process. <br />Each of the proposals meet the base requirements to include soft surfacing in the $100,000 budget, prepare <br />a site plan, and ensure installation by September 15, 2018. Each vendor will have 20 minutes to present their <br />playground design and answer questions that the Commission may have. <br />Staff recommends that following the presentations, the Parks Commission discuss the proposals with <br />residents and select a playground to be installed in Lions Park. <br />THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS IS ATTACHED AS WELL AS THE NEIGHBORHOOD NOTIFICATION. MATERIALS PROVIDED BY THE <br />VENDORS ARE ATTACHED. <br />The Preserve on Sunset Lake Sketch Plan <br />A request for a sketch plan review has been received from Cheldon Frank for the Preserve on Sunset Lake. <br />The applicant is requesting review and comments on a sketch plan of 12 residential lots on 125 acres. The <br />property is located southwest of Sunset Lake, currently consists of four parcels, and is zoned Rural <br />Residential. The applicant has indicated that they would donate land to expand the existing City property on <br />Sunset Lake. The developer is also proposing preservation and enhancement of open space totaling 25% of <br />the overall development. The applicant is looking for informal comments from the Parks Commission and a <br />recommendation is not needed at this time. The Parks Commission should provide input if park land is <br />desirable and the trail connections. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MEMO. <br />Update on Clearwater Creek Preserve Master Planning <br />The first open house to master plan Clearwater Creek Preserve will be held June 26 at 7:00pm at Hugo City <br />Hall.
