Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for November 5, 2018 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br />Approve Hiring of Emily Weber as the New Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />At its September 4, 2018, meeting, Council approved the advertisement for a new Community <br />Development Assistant after the resignation of Rachel Leitz. Staff had interviewed eight <br />applicants for the position and selected Emily Weber to fill the position. This position would be <br />slotted at Pay Grade 5, Step 1, in the 2018 salary matrix. Adoption of the Consent Agenda <br />approved the hiring of Emily Weber as the new Community Development Assistant with a start <br />date of November 26, 2018. <br /> <br />Approve Maintenance Agreement for Oneka Parkway Retaining Wall with in the <br />Clearwater Cove Development <br /> <br />Staff has been working with DR Horton on the construction of a retaining wall on the south end <br />of Oneka Parkway in the Clearwater Cove development. The retaining wall was needed since the <br />grade of the adjacent property to the south is lower that the grade of the development. Staff is <br />comfortable with the design of the retaining wall and would continue to work out technical <br />details with the developer. The maintenance agreement outlined maintenance, liability, and <br />removal requirements. The HOA would be responsible for the maintenance of the retaining wall. <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the maintenance agreement for the retaining wall at <br />the south end f Oneka Parkway in the Clearwater Cove development. <br /> <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Update <br /> <br />Council Member Chuck Haas and Phil Klein reported to Council on the Yellow Ribbon Network <br />activities held recently. Haas showed photos of the care packaging event, items sent to the 133rd <br />AirWing deployed in Florida, and the Fairview HealthEast clinics who hold a Halloween candy <br />for books exchange, which was featured on WCCO. Tim Scanlan led the Creekside Villas <br />Homeowner Association at Burger Night where the St. Paul Winter Carnival Royalty were <br />present, who knighted several of the volunteers. The YRN assisted a family who needed money <br />to get home and helped a military widow with yard work. Xcel Energy was working on a grant <br />program to donate to the YRN. Haas was also on KFAN radio talking about the upcoming <br />Welcome Home Pheasant Hunt on December 8, 2018. <br /> <br />Board of Canvass on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 <br /> <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear reminded Council they had scheduled a meeting as the Board of <br />Canvass for Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />White Bear Chamber Legislative Reception on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 <br /> <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear informed Council they had been invited by the White Bear Area <br />Chamber of Commerce to attend the Legislative Reception to be held Tuesday, November 13, <br />2018, from 5-7 p.m. at the Tria Restaurant in North Oaks. <br /> <br />Klein made motion, Petryk seconded, to schedule a meeting to attend the Legislative Reception <br />on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at the Tria Restaurant. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />
