EDA Completes Business Visits and Attends Events <br />This year the EDA attended sever- <br />al ground breaking, openhouse, <br />and grand opening events for new r� o <br />and expanding businesses in Hu- <br />go. In partnership with the Hugo <br />� - <br />Area Business Association (HBA). <br />the EDA members and staff have <br />joined them at their monthly <br />meetings and attended the busi- <br />ness showcase events. As a goal, <br />for 2017, the EDA will continue its " .r ,:;•. <br />JfRAgreat partnership with the HBA. <br />r�l F Hugo <br />Busine" ASS <br />1 <br />Marketing of the City Owned Property in Downtown <br />Last year, the City Council approved a plan set by the <br />EDA to market the City owned property in downtown <br />for $1.00. In order for a project to be eligible, it must <br />meet a list of highly desirable development criteria. <br />The EDA decided to market the property if a different <br />way to attract the type of development they would <br />like to see on the property. The development criteria <br />includes: <br />• A full service restaurant or some form of event <br />center or family entertainment venue, situated so <br />that the customers and public will benefit from <br />views over the lake. Secondary retail, service, <br />and housing uses may be considered. <br />• Quality architecture, building materials, and site <br />design, exceeding requirements of the Downtown <br />Design Guidelines. <br />• Construction of public amenities, including pedes- <br />trian connections, a gathering place near Egg <br />Lake, and public parking. <br />
