New Parcel Created for Growing Business in the BEIP <br />A new plat for Bald Eagle Industrial Park 6th Addi- <br />tion was approved during the summer. Western <br />Spring, located in the industrial park, has purchased <br />the property in plans to construct a new facility. The <br />property is approximately 5 acres and located just <br />north of their existing facility. <br />There are parcels that are still available in the Bald <br />Eagle Industrial Park, some of which that can be sep- <br />arated to create additional lots. Please visit the City's <br />website under Economic Development to review the <br />list of available properties. For questions on availa- <br />ble properties, please contact Rachel Juba at (651) <br />762-6304 or rjuba@ci.hugo.mn.us. <br />Washington County Economic Development <br />After the adoption of its Economic Development Strategic Plan, Washington County, following one <br />of its action items, hired its first ever Economic Development Director. The Washington County <br />Community Development Agency hired Chris Eng <br />in June. Chris formally worked for Duluth as direc- <br />tor of business and economic development. Before <br />that he was executive director and economic devel- <br />opment director at the Chisago County HRA. Wash- <br />ington County, with help from an economic devel- <br />opment workgroup comprised of staff from various <br />cities, is working to update the strategic plan and <br />providing direction on what the County should <br />consider for economic development incentives. <br />Chris wants to tell the story of Washington County; <br />not only on why it is a great place do locate a busi- <br />ness, but a great place to live. <br />1. Washington County has the second lowest <br />property tax rate in the 7 -County Metro Area <br />2. The estimated population (2015) of Wash- <br />ington County is 251,597. The per capita buy- <br />ing income is the third highest in the State at <br />$37,841, compared to other Counties. <br />3. The labor force grew by 9.6% for the last <br />decade to 12,077 people. <br />4. Several large commercial and industrial <br />development sites are available. <br />5. Close proximity to the airport and access to <br />the Interstate system. <br />3 <br />
