MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF AUGUST 15 2017 <br />Weidt called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. <br />PRESENT: Denaway, Houle, Klein, Petty, Weidt. <br />ABSENT: Gallivan, Puleo <br />STAFF: Rachel Juba, Planner <br />Rachel Leitz, Community Development Assistant <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF JUNE 20, 2017 <br />Klein made a motion, Petty seconded, to approve minutes for the EDA meeting of June 20, 2017, <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />UPDATE ON WASHINGTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />Juba stated that as part of Washington County's economic development strategic plan they are working on <br />putting together a plan to increase levy money to allow for a $150,000 grant program to help with economic <br />development. This grant would help with pre -development work, which could assist in a variety of aspects: <br />environmental studies, legal research, site plan design, engineering, transportation market, feasibility studies, <br />incentive planning, etc. Washington County is planning to allow a maximum of $50,000 per application and <br />are asking for support for $150,000 per year to allocate to this program. <br />UPDATE ON PROPERTY OWNER MEETINGS <br />Juba reminded the EDA that staff has been reaching out to property owners in Hugo. Staff has been going <br />through this effort to get updates on the property owner's vision for the future of their properties. Staff has <br />expressed their support for the property owners and stated the City is willing to assist them in their future <br />plans or with any questions they have, especially while going through the 2040 Comprehensive Plan Update. <br />Juba stated that staff will continue to update the EDA as meetings with property owners continue. <br />UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff provided an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Klein made a motion, seconded by Houle, to adjourn at 5:45 pm. <br />All ayes. Motion carried. <br />
