BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE EDA MEETING OF <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 19, 2018 <br />3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes from the March 20, 2018, EDA meeting as presented. <br />4. DISCUSSION ON 2017 EDA ANNUAL REPORT <br />Staff will present the 2017 EDA Annual Report at the meeting. <br />5. UPDATE ON WASHINGTON COUNTY CDA PREDEVELOPMENT GRANT <br />Washington County CDA now offers Predevelopment Grants, which is intended to provide economic <br />development funds to cities, townships and local government development authorities located in <br />Washington County. These funds are intended to: 1) increase the availability of shovel ready properties <br />in the county; 2) provide opportunities for our existing businesses to stay and grow here in Washington <br />County; 3) spur new business development and job opportunities in the County; 4) provide opportunities <br />for business diversity; 5) increased commercial and industrial market values within Washington County, <br />and 6) assist with removing blighted properties. <br />At its last meeting the EDA recommended to the City Council to apply for the grant. The City Council <br />authorized staff to apply for the grant. The grant will fund a study to evaluate the development <br />feasibility for the 165th Street and Highway 6. Staff will update the EDA at the meeting on the process. <br />6. UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff will provide an update on downtown redevelopment at the meeting. <br />
