MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF MAY 15, 2018 <br />Weidt called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. <br />PRESENT: Gallivan, Klein, Petty, Weidt. <br />ABSENT: Denaway, Houle, Puleo. <br />STAFF: Bryan Bear, City Administrator <br />Rachel Juba, Planner <br />Rachel Leitz, Community Development Assistant <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES FOR THE EDA MEETING OF MARCH 20, 2018 <br />Klein made a motion, Gallivan seconded, to approve minutes for the EDA meeting of March 20, 2018. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />BUSINESS TOUR — WESTERN SPRING —13153 FENWAY BLVD. N. <br />The EDA visited the newly constructed Western Spring building in the Bald Eagle Industrial Park. Western <br />Spring is a small, family run business that has been in the Alstatt family for generations. The EDA learned <br />about Western Spring's manufacturing process and the changes they are making to the business to meet current <br />trends and demands. <br />DISCUSSION ON WASHINGTON COUNTY CDA PREDEVELOPMENT GRANT <br />Juba reminded the EDA of the Washington County CDA Predevelopment Grant and what it is intended to do <br />for cities and local governments located in Washington County. Juba provided further background on the <br />discussions surrounding providing City utilities to 165th Street for economic development purposes. She stated <br />that staff is recommending the EDA move forward with recommending a resolution to apply for the <br />predevelopment finance fund to conduct a study on the feasibility of providing City utilities to the 165th Street <br />area. <br />Bear stated that this area is a high priority of the City. He stated that the implied cost of providing City utilities <br />and paving 165th Street may prevent this area from developing without City assistance. Bear stated that <br />conducting this study will help the City understand how this area could be developed in the future. <br />Klein made a motion, Gallivan seconded, to approve the recommendation to the City Council to submit an <br />application for funding from the Washington County CDA Predevelopment Finance Fund. <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />UPDATE ON DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT <br />Staff provided an update to the EDA on downtown redevelopment. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Weidt made a motion, seconded by Klein, to adjourn at 6:27 pm. <br />All ayes. Motion carried. <br />
