TMDL Goals for Peltier and Centerville Lakes
Peltier and Centerville Lakes have been identified to be impaired. The nutrient causing
the impairment has been identified as phosphorus. The TMDL for Peltier/Centerville
Lake has identified a need to reduce the external phosphorus loading from Hardwood
Creek or Clearwater Creek by between 46 and 62 percent. Recent P8 modeling
completed by Houston Engineering provides significantly different existing phosphorus
load estimates than the information provided in the TMDL. Depending on the data
utilized, a 50% reduction would correspond to an annual reduction of phosphorus loading
from the City of Hugo of 500-1,500 pounds.
In order to achieve these goals it is anticipated the following actions could to be taken:
a) Reduce phosphorus loads from areas within in the City that develop or
redevelop by requiring the incorporation of BMPs consistent with
RCWD permitting standards.
b) Incorporate regional BMPs or retrofit existing BMPs to further reduce
the phosphorus loading from these areas.
CIP for Storm Water Projects Within the City of Hugo
City of Hugo, MN
WSB Project No. 1687-85
Page 10
