3.0 MNRAM INPUT
Initial site data is entered into the General Information section of MNRAM 3.4. The site is located in the
Mississippi River -Twin Cities Watershed Basin, #20, in Wetland Bank Service Area 7. The subject property drains
southward into Clearwater Creek Central (See attached figure: P8 Water Quality Modeling Discharge Locations
from The Capital Improvement Plan For Stormwater Projects Within the City of Hugo (WSB, 2011). The UTM
coordinate location, elevation, and size, of each wetland is entered. The wetland basins are described below.
Outlot B Conservation Easement
• Circular 39: Type 2/3
• Cowardin: PEM1A, PEM1C
• Eggers and Reed: Fresh (Wet) Meadow / Shallow Marsh
Drainage across this area is southeasterly to the southeast part of the site, from where drainage is then
southward toward Clearwater Creek. The historical wetland area between mitigation areas 1 through 5 and
Frenchman 2"d mitigation area remains sedge meadow, dominated by hummock sedge (carexstricta). Through
careful management, additional fortis and shrubbery has become established, while invasive reed canary grass
has been diminished. Note the area marked as wetland south of the conservation easement is presently further
south than what it was in 2012. This area was included as wetland due to upslope
expansion of the hummock sedge.
The upland areas between Frenchman 2"d/ Mitigation Area 1, and north of Mitigation Area 1 in the east part of
the conservation easement were intended as buffer credit. The upland strip west and north of mitigation area 5
can also serve as buffer credit. With the exception of the area north of mitigation area 1, where the transition
from wetland to upland is abrupt, wetland to upland transitions are very gradual.
The Frenchman 2"d and mitigation area 1 have become established as Type 2 (Fresh (wet) meadow) wetlands, as
intended. Areas 2 through 5 have established themselves as Type 3 (shallow marsh) wetland dominated by
hybrid cattail (Typha x glouca) and broad-leaved arrowhead (Sagittaria latifolia). As a result, waterfowl,
amphibian, and muskrat populations have become established in these areas.
Area West of Conservation Easement
• Circular 39: Type 2/3
• Cowardin: PEM1A, PEM1C
• Eggers and Reed: Fresh (Wet) Meadow / Shallow Marsh
This area extends from the north property line southward to Rosemary Way. Drainage is southward toward
Clearwater Creek. Similar to 2012, when last delineated, this area is dominated by reed canary and hybrid
cattail. The gentle slopes and low permeability soils cause a gradual wetland to upland transition.
