May 2, 2019 <br />Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />City of Hugo <br />14669 Fitzgerald Avenue North <br />Hugo, MN 55038 <br />Re: Gravel Roads Discussion <br />WSB Project No. R-011950-000 <br />Dear Mayor and Council Members: <br />Last year, City Council and staff discussed gravel roads at a number of City Council work <br />sessions. The result of these work sessions was to reclaim 1.67 miles of roadways (Ingersoll <br />o Avenue, 175th St, Inwood Ave, 180th Street) to improve the overall gradation of the class 5 <br />roadway material, assess how the reclaimed roadways perform, and determine if it is worthwhile <br />Z to pursue reclaiming the remaining 5.5 miles of problem gravel roadways in 2019. Public works <br />m staff was also authorized to purchase a rubber tire roller to as a way to improve our grading <br />practices. This piece of equipment will no longer be required to be rented for future reclamation <br />projects as well. <br />0 Lo <br />co The gravel roads that were reclaimed last year are performing well and are in the top tier of our <br />CO <br />gravel roads. Staff is recommending reclaiming the remaining 5.5 miles of problematic gravel <br />N roadways in 2019.
