2040 Comprehensive Plan 2
August 16, 2017 Parks and Trails Commission Meeting
Staff is compiling the results of the Parks Open House that was held on August 8, 2017 along with
responses from the online survey. A summary of the responses will be shared at the Parks
Commission meeting on August 16, 2017.

Park Development Priorities

The parks plan that is approved as part of the Comprehensive Plan will be the guiding policy
document used to determine the cost of proposed improvements in the parks system. The primary
tool for acquiring new land and funds for park development is through park dedication. Staff identified the following community priorities in the draft: 1) Integrated Parks and Trails
System; 2) Safe recreation for all users; and 3) All-access facilities.

• Are there additional community priorities you heard that should be represented in this
section?

2. The report identifies four areas of recreation demand that were informed by multiple sources,
including feedback from the Community.

• Are we capturing the demand from the community? For example, should a dog park or
pickle ball court be called out in the document?

3. The Guiding Principles section provide a policy basis for decision making.

• Are these the right principles? Should additional principles be added?

4. More specific Locational Criteria are being proposed in the Chapter update.

• Is the proposed format useful for your decision making?

4. Next Steps:

Staff will finalize data analysis and streamline the current document into an interactive pdf with the
rest of the Comprehensive Plan chapters.

5. Action Items:
