Analysis of Existing Water Demand
Table 9-1 presents the actual water demand for the past ten years The City of Hugo itemizes the water demand by customer category including
residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional water sales The City currently does not sell water on a wholesale basis
Factors that influence trends in water demand include growth, weather, industry, and conservation efforts. The population served by the City of
Hugo’s water system has doubled since 2005 . Total water demand has fluctuated over the last ten years and shows no clear trend over that
time. Per capita water demand has also fluctuated and shows a slight declining trend over the long term. Fluctuation in water demand is likely
attributable to fluctuations in climate from year to year. The slight decreasing trend in per capita demand is likely due to conservation efforts and
changing attitudes towards water use
Currently, the City of Hugo does not have large water users that utilize over 5% of the City’s total water usage Table 9-2 summarizes the City’s
largest water utility users
