208COMPREHENSIVE WATER SUPPLY <br />AND DISTRIBUITION PLAN <br />2040 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE DRAFT Dec14-17 <br />for review only <br />Existing Treatment and Storage <br />Capacity <br />The City of Hugo does not currently have a water treatment plant� <br />Hugo’s water quality meets all primary contaminant standards and <br />treatment is not mandated� Water from all wells is chlorinated and <br />fluoridated as required by the Minnesota Department of Health. In <br />addition, polyphosphate is added to keep iron and manganese in <br />solution� <br />There are two elevated storage facilities serving the City of Hugo’s <br />water system with a total storage capacity of 2 Million Gallons (MG)� <br />The City is divided into two pressure zone systems, a northern and a <br />southern system, with a tower located within each area� The elevated <br />storage tanks are shown in Map 9-1 which details the City of Hugo <br />existing water supply system� <br />Tower No� 2, which serves the southern portion of the water system, is <br />a water spheroid tower with 0�5 MG of available storage� This tower <br />is located south of County Road 8 and West of Trunk Highway 61� <br />Tower No� 3, which serves the northern portion of the water system, is <br />a composite water tower in which the pillar is constructed of concrete <br />and the storage tank of steel� Tower No� 3 has 1�5 MG of available <br />storage and is located north of 159th Street and west of Trunk <br />Highway 61�
