PLANNING COMMISSION UPDATE:

At its May 9, 2019, meeting the Planning Commission held a public hearing and considered the
request. There was one resident, besides the applicant that spoke during the hearing. The
residents had concerns about increased traffic at the Heritage Parkway and Education Drive
intersection in front of Oneka Elementary School. She asked if there was going to be more traffic
control in the area. Staff stated that there are school zone signs in the area that flash during
school hours and the sheriff’s department has done extra patrol in the area recently. Staff does
not expect a large amount of additional traffic with the development. Staff recommended
approval of the applications.

The Planning Commission generally liked the plan and had a few general questions. The
applicant noted that the development would have its own sub-association as part of the Waters
Edge Master Association. The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of the
applications of preliminary plat and PUD amendment for Waters Edge 6th Addition, subject to
the conditions listed in the resolution.
