I hope this email finds you all healthy and surviving every twist and turn
of 2020.
As the end of the year gets closer I personally have been faced with making a very hard and difficult decision.
Which seems almost unreal and somewhat unjust in having to send this via email.
It is with great sadness, I am writing to let you know, that I will be leaving the department. Effective December
31st 2020.
Words cannot express how hard of a decision this was. Life as we know doesn’t always go as planned! I have
carefully thought through every option that was available to me and could not find a way to make things work
aside from a steady full time position(which does not exist)
First: To the Mayor, City Council and the citizens of Hugo;
I wish to say thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve the community of Hugo. I took great pride in
being a firefighter and helping those in need throughout our small community. The community events were not
only great experiences but filled with fun and lots of memories.
Next: I’d like to acknowledge the wonderful selection of men and women you have working for the community
for which I was honored to be a part of (for the past few years). I was so blessed and so incredibly thankful for
each and every member of the Hugo Fire Department. As the training they provided was exceptional. They
truly work together as a team/family. They have all taught and mentored me in some way. Creating many
friendships and memories that I will always hold a place in my heart.

Last- As I have stated throughout this whole process. Thank you for helping me fulfill a life long dream! Giving
me the opportunity to learn and grow as a firefighter and develop lifelong skills that will allow me to continue
to help those in need.

Again, I am thankful for the time I got to serve such a wonderful community. May the new year bring everyone
health, happiness and an appreciation of all the small blessings we are given every day!

I will be back.

Thank you for everything!
-Baily Lund
