1
Michele Lindau
Subject:FW: Amy Kriegshauser Status

Good Morning!
This has been a long time coming, so here it is. I wanted to take a few days and make sure my communication was
neither reactionary nor impulsive. My time at Hugo Fire is officially coming to an end. (My employment will be ending as
of the next city council meeting) I was cleared to go back to work, but was not cleared for all of the duties required of a
firefighter. I am not able to perform to the level that is needed to to safely do the job. Coming back at less than full
capacity isn’t fair to me or any of you. I appreciate all that the city has done for me in my nearly 8 years of service and
would’ve stayed on the Fire Department indefinitely, if I could. I had so much pride in being a part of this team and the
community in which we served. I was given an incredible opportunity to become both a firefighter and a paramedic in my
time here. I am proud to say I served with some of the very best! Truth be told, it was more than just a job, more than just
a uniform; it was a big part of my identity. We are a family at Hugo Fire; I didn't face this career ending injury alone. Your
help, patience and support did not go unnoticed. I loved my job more than most, but the time has come to pass the torch
to someone able to fulfill the duties required. I am sad to say goodbye, it is difficult to say the least. I am walking away
with my head held high. I have had 2 surgeries, rehabs and recoveries. I left it all out there trying to come back and be a
part of the team. I just couldn’t do it. I don't know what the future will hold for me, but I will still be around supporting your
efforts from the sidelines.
Thanks for everything!
Amy Kriegshauser
