BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON JUNE 7, 2021 <br /> <br /> <br />D.1 Minutes for the May 17, 2021, City Administrator Review <br />D.2 Minutes for the May 17, 2021, City Council Meeting <br />D.3 Minutes for the May 26, 2021, Interviews for Council Vacancy <br />D.4 Minutes for the June 2, 2021 Memorial Dedication for Ron Otkin <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br /> <br />F.1 Appointment of Dave Strub as Ward 3 Council Member and Oath of Office <br /> <br />On May 26, 2021, the Council interviewed five residents who applied to fill the Ward 3 Council <br />seat vacated by Chuck Haas as of May 31, 2021. After discussion, the Council selected Dave <br />Strub as the best candidate to fill the position. Council will formally appoint Dave, and upon <br />reciting the Oath of Office, Dave will take his place at the dais and be noted as in attendance for <br />his first meeting as a Council Member. <br /> <br />F,2 Swearing in of Assistant Fire Chief David Jensen <br /> <br />Fire Chief Jim Compton, Jr. will swear in David Jensen as Assistant Fire Chief. <br /> <br />F.3 Swearing in of Firefighters Jake Jorgenson, Billy Lusk, and Tim Olson <br /> <br />Fire Chief Jim Compton, Jr. will swear in Jake Jorgenson, Billy Lusk, and Tim Olson as <br />Firefighters. <br /> <br />F.4 Recognition of Retired Firefighter Roland Guareschi <br /> <br />In December, 2020, Firefighter Roly Guareschi submitted his letter of resignation from the Hugo Fire <br />Department effective January 4, 2021. Council will recognize Roly for his 13 years of service on the <br />Hugo Fire Department <br /> <br />F.5 Recognition of Retired Fire Chief Kevin Colvard <br /> <br />In May, 2020, Kevin Colvard submitted his notice of retirement as Fire Chief and member of the <br />Hugo Fire Department effective December 31, 2020. Council will recognize Kevin for his 20 <br />years of service on the Hugo Fire Department. <br /> <br />F.6 Updates from Local Scout Troops <br /> <br />Hugo Boy and Girl Scout troops will present to Council on activities and projects they have done <br />in Hugo. <br /> <br />F.7 Lakes Center for Youth & Families – Executive Director Linda Madsen and Board <br />Chair Jim Schoppenhorst <br /> <br />Lakes Center for Youth & Families representatives will present to Council an update on their <br />services in Hugo. In attendance will be Linda Madsen, Executive Director; <br />Jenna Jones, Assistant Executive Director; and Jim Schoppenhorst, Board Chair. <br />
