Every
other Wednesday from 2:00 pm to
4:00 pm, Washington County Library
will visit a city park in Hugo. They'll
have a pop-up library with books to
check-out and grab and go project
kits for kids.
6/16/21
Heritage Ponds
15541 Empress Ave N
6/30/21
Oak Shore Park
12790 Exhall Ave N
7114/21
Hanifl Fields Athletic Park
137th St N
7/28/21
Oneka Lake Park
15369 Goodview Ave N
8/11/21
Arcand Park
13246 Fondant Trail N
8/25/21
Val Jean Park
14271 Val Jean Blvd
❑P
A WORD FROM
PUBLIC WORKS
Hydrant Flushing
Starting April 12
(weather dependent)
As part of many INNIIIIIIIIIIIIII
other spring projects,
the Public Works Department will be flushing
hydrants. It is expected to take about two
weeks to complete all hydrants. Flushing
purges rust and stagnant water from the
distribution system and identifies hydrants in
need of maintenance. Some residents may
receive rust colored water that could stain
laundry. During this time, please check that
water coming into the house is clear and let
the tap water run, if necessary.
Watering Restrictions -
What are they?
Property owners within the City using water
from the City of Hugo's municipal water system,
may only water lawns, trees or other vegetation
on an odd -even basis. Specifically, property ad-
dresses which end in an odd number may only
water on odd calendar days. Properties having
addresses which end in an even number may
only water on even calendar days. An exemp-
tion from the odd -even restriction of up to 30
days is available for new sod, seed, or plantings.
You may call Hugo City Hall at (651) 762-
6300 to be added to a 30-day exemption list.
New Public Works Building
Disposable
Wipes
We need your help! Although many
brands of disposable wipes are labeled
" flushable," please do not flush them!
Disposable wipes cause major problems when
flushed down toilets. Because they don't break
down the way toilet paper does, these wipes
clog homeowner and municipal sewer pipes,
put stress on community wastewater collec-
tion equipment, and cause cities to spend
thousands of dollars on premature equipment
repair and replacement.
Your help in this matter is greatly appreciated
by your Public Works Department!
CodeRED Reminder
CodeRED is an emergency notification
service by which public safety can notify
residents and businesses by landline or cellu-
lar phone about emergency situations. The
system is capable of sending messages only
to specific neighborhoods or the entire
community. CodeRED can be used for any
emergency alert, including severe weather
situations, substantial utility outage, evacu-
ation notices, missing or lost persons, fires
or floods, major roadway issues, significant
criminal situations, chemical spills or gas leaks.
Residents can sign up for this service at
www.ci.hugo.mn.us/codered
The Hugo Public Works department has outgrown our current facility on 137th Street N and there
are plans to construct a new facility located on the south side of Irish Avenue Park. Irish Avenue
Park is 125 acres and located off of 140th Street N. The new Public Works Facility will take up
approximately 10 acres of the site with building and site improvements. Site grading and storm
and sewer work began in fall 2020 and construction of the 60,600 square foot building is
anticipated to be complete in late fall 2021.
