Lions Park
It has been many years in the making, but
Lions Park is being redeveloped this spring.
A master plan for the park was approved
in 2015 after three years of plan-
ning, four stakeholder meetings,
and six community workshops.
Hundreds of residents and stake-
holders participated and pro-
vided input during this process.
Since then, the Parks Commis-
sion and City Council revital-
ized the project and approved a
Feasibility Study done on the
Park in June 2020. The Feasibility PARALLEL
PARKING
(APSTALLS)
Study guided the Parks Commis-
sion and City Council to make
minor changes to the master
plan, which will ensure that the
MONUMENT WALL
WITH OPTIONAL SIGN/
SEATING AREA
park aligns with the new resi- `PARKING
(APPROX. 10
dential development on the west STALLB)
PROPOSED ROAD
side of the park. The overall park ALIGNMENT
budget is $7 million, which includes PLAYGROUND AREA
(SEE ENLARGEMENT)
the inclusive playground, pavilion,
MONUMENT SIGN
and all of the site improvements
such as parking lots, utilities,
public plazas, and landscaping.
In October 2020, a community workshop
was held and three stakeholder commit-
tees were formed to refine the design of
the playground, park pavilion, and overall
park site. The committees were made up
of residents, Council representatives, and
Commissioners. These committees each
met three times between November 2020
and January 2021 to help design the park
elements that we see today.
The playground will be a destina-
tion, inclusive playground that meets the
needs and desires of multiple age groups,
abilities, and challenge levels. The play-
ground itself is budgeted at $1.1 million
and it features a prominent central play
structure, zip lines, swings, indepen-
dent play, sensory challenges, and more.
NFORMAL
BALLFIELD
•
11111w* _-q
jUL/ Hugo Destination 2021 ,
Scndswpe
trucfures 115py60 02-02 03 02-76.2021 flagshit
COURTAREA 10'BITUMINOUS TRAIL.
PARKING AREA [(SEE ENLARGEMENT)
(APPROX.
