Interim Use Permit for a Farmhand Living Quarters <br />to be located on the property at 15250 Homestead Avenue North. <br />DATE: September 16, 2021, for the Planning Commission Meeting of September 23, 2021 <br />LAND USE: Agricultural (AG) <br />ZONING: Agricultural (AG) <br />REVIEW DEADLINE: October 28, 2021 <br />1. DESCRIPTION OF REQUEST: <br />The applicant is requesting approval of an interim use permit (IUP) for a farmhand living quarter <br />to be allowed on the property. On properties 20 acres or more in size, located in the future urban <br />service, rural residential, agricultural, and long term agricultural districts a second dwelling shall <br />be allowed for living quarters for a farmhand. The property is approximately 38 acres in size and <br />is being used for a dairy farm operation. The dairy farm is operated by the applicants with their <br />son's and their families. The applicants would like to build farmhand living quarters as a second <br />dwelling on the property to open up the existing farm house to their son and his family. <br />2. CONTEXT: <br />A. Surrounding Land Use and Zoning <br />The property zoned Agricultural (AG) and is guided as Agricultural in the 2040 Land Use Plan. <br />The property is approximately 38 acres and is a dairy farm operation. The surrounding properties <br />are also zoned AG and are large lots that are either vacant or occupied by single family homes. <br />B. Natural Characteristics of Site <br />The property is used for a dairy farm agricultural operation. There are pastures on the property as <br />well as several agricultural building to serve the operation. <br />
