Accounting Clerk Job Description <br />Page 3 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES CONTINUED <br /> Skill in handling financial transactions <br /> Ability to communicate effectively with City staff and the general public <br /> Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment <br /> Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and other <br />standard office software <br /> Ability to type and enter data with speed and accuracy <br /> Ability to keep accurate and complete records and files <br /> <br /> <br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> High School graduate or GED equivalent <br /> Post-secondary training in accounting, finance or related business field <br /> One year of work experience in a municipality or service related business <br /> Possess a current driver’s license <br /> <br /> <br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS <br /> Associate’s degree in accounting, finance or related business field; additional experience may <br />be substituted for education <br /> Experience and/or knowledge of governmental accounting principals <br /> Knowledge of Fund Balance Software <br /> Knowledge of Laserfiche Record Retention Software <br /> <br /> <br />WORKING CONDITIONS <br /> Work is performed in a typical office environment that consists of an open work area and <br />front counter for providing customer service. Travel, consisting of short trips, may be <br />required. <br /> <br />
