Accounting Clerk Job Description <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONTINUED <br />Other Duties <br /> Conduct special assessment searches <br /> Maintain employee benefits <br /> Process property, liability and auto insurance claims <br /> Track workers compensation claims and complete year-end reporting <br /> Provide research information to the Finance Director as directed <br /> Compose correspondences and prepare mailings <br /> Gather information for data requests as requested <br /> Coordinate updates to the fee schedule <br /> Participate in annual budget preparations <br /> Complete various month-end and year-end forms and reports <br /> Maintain electronic and paper document filing systems for Finance Department records <br /> Perform other related duties as assigned or apparent <br /> <br />Utility Billing <br /> Understand the Utility Billing cycle and procedures <br /> Prepare quarterly water and sewer bills <br /> Receipt and process utility payments received <br /> Process quarterly penalty charges for delinquent accounts <br /> Track delinquent accounts for certification to county <br /> Compile quarterly water usage reports <br /> Maintain utility accounts and update billing and payment information <br /> Process move-in/move-out notices <br /> Provide excellent customer service to utility customers and title companies <br /> <br />Payroll <br /> Understand the Payroll cycle and procedures <br /> Prepare and process bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly payroll <br /> Calculate withholding tax and pension liabilities <br /> Reconcile and prepare year-end W-2 and W-3 Forms <br /> Complete yearly comparable worth reporting <br /> Create and track wage theft notices <br /> <br /> <br />REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES <br /> Excellent attention to detail, ability to complete tasks promptly with completeness and <br />accuracy <br /> Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance <br /> Ability to follow oral and written instructions in detail with accuracy and efficiency <br /> Demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills in managing competing <br />priorities and critical deadlines <br /> Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information <br /> Knowledge of current accounting practices and principals
