Minutes <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of February 19, 2020 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Present: Roger Clarke, Shawn Haag, Cathy Moore —Arcand, Nicole Schmid, Dave Strub, Ranell Tennyson <br />Absent: Mat Rauschendorfer <br />Staff Present: Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner <br />Debi Close, Secretary <br />Strub called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm. <br />1. Approval of Minutes from the January 15, 2020 Meeting <br />Rauschendorfer made a motion, Haag seconded to approve the minutes of the December 16, 2019 Parks <br />Commission meeting. <br />All ayes. Motion carried. <br />2. Sunset Lake Future Park Update <br />Shayla Denaway, Parks Planner reviewed the data provided by the DNR for Sunset Lake: fish species, depth, <br />size and surveys. The DNR informed staff that they would be willing to stock the lake if public use increased <br />and if a pier or dock was added to the park that they would grant permission to treat the weeds around this <br />fishing area. <br />Strub informed that the current Home Owners Association pays for an aerator with insurance to prevent <br />winter fish kill and does some stocking. <br />WSB provided a traffic volume data sheet, showing current traffic and projects of future traffic based on the <br />concept plans for a park on Sunset Lake. <br />Strub, Moore-Arcand and Tennyson favored Homestead Avenue as the access to a Sunset Lake Park public <br />park. <br />Open floor discussion included: gravel or paved parking options, concept plan options, trespassing on private <br />property, scaling back park, installing parking lots only at this time, phasing process to develop the park, <br />restrooms, lighting, trash, trails and access to the park. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Parks Commission Agenda <br />February 19, 2020 <br />
