Background <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Commission <br />Meeting of July 21, 2021 <br />Hugo City Hall, 7:00 pm <br />Approve Minutes from May 19, 2021 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of May 19, 2021. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br />Approve Minutes from June 16, 2021 Meeting <br />Staff recommends approval of the minutes of the Parks Commission meeting of June 16, 2021. <br />PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED MINUTES. <br />Lions Park Updates <br />Staff will provide updates from the June 21 and July 19 City Council meetings and other updates on Lions <br />Park. This packet is going out ahead of the July 19 Council meeting so more information will be shared at the <br />Parks meeting. <br />• The playground equipment that was located in Lions Park has been re -installed in Beaver Ponds Park. <br />• An updated construction timeline will be provided. Removals and demolition has started in Lions <br />Park. <br />• At their June 21 meeting, the Council awarded bids for the CSAH 8 Stormwater Re -Use System, <br />Downtown Improvement Projects (streets and park), and the Pavilion. The Council has reviewed all <br />of the bids, quotes, and proposals for Lions Park and is considering using tax abatement to finance <br />the improvements with a bond issuance. <br />• Council approved purchase of play equipment and surfacing from Flagship Recreation at their June <br />21 meeting. Council asked staff to prepare cost estimates for the items included in "Phase 2" of the <br />playground for their consideration at their July 19 meeting. This would complete the playground as <br />planned by the Committee.
