<br />Ability to safely enter and work in confined spaces such as lift stations.
<br />Ability to safely work around loud noise, irritants, fumes, infectious diseases, and hazardous
<br />chemicals such as chlorine, fluoride, and polyphosphate.
<br />Ability to perform mathematical calculations for some work tasks.
<br />Ability to perform in a variety of stressful situations involving the use of equipment/machinery
<br />and sometimes under urgent/emergency conditions.
<br />
<br />MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT USED: Trucks, trucks with trailers, loader, motor
<br />grader, sweeper, roller, tractor/mower, backhoe, skid loader, tamper, jack hammer, welder,
<br />torches, grinder, chain saw, chop saw, circular saw, general hand tools, chemical sprayer, sewer
<br />jetter, hot tar kettle, router for crack filling, black top cutter, safety tripods and harness, and
<br />traffic control equipment.

<br />MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
<br />High school degree or equivalent. Valid Minnesota Class B commercial driver’s license or
<br />ability to obtain within six months. Ability to obtain Class D water and Class S-D wastewater
<br />licenses within two years of hire date.

<br />PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
<br />Valid Minnesota Class A commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain within six months.
<br />Vocational training in water/wastewater technology. Experience operating light and heavy
<br />equipment.
<br />
<br />WORKING CONDITIONS
<br />The majority of time is spent outdoors performing work and some time indoors with some tasks
<br />carried out in confined spaces or spaces of various heights. Regularly uses fine motors skills to
<br />coordinate eyes, hands, and feet for the operation of a variety of public works tools, machines
<br />and equipment. Regularly uses large motor skills to exert moderate to considerable physical
<br />effort while performing a variety of movements such as bending, crouching, twisting/turning,
<br />digging, and lifting. All vision abilities and senses, with the exception of taste, may be used
<br />depending on the particular task. Exposure to irritants/fumes, hazardous substances such as
<br />chlorine/hot asphalt/tar/fuels, temperatures extremes, vibrations, infectious diseases, dust and
<br />smoke, and noise can be occasional to frequent. Must be able to work in traffic and other
<br />stressful situations. Responds to public works emergencies to include work on weekends,
<br />evenings, and overnight.
