34 <br /> <br /> <br />LEAVE BENEFITS <br /> <br />28.0 Personal Leave <br /> <br />Personal Leave is granted to all regular, full-time employees of the City to <br />maintain their physical and emotional well-being. It serves the combined <br />functions of what have traditionally been called vacation and sick leave. <br />Employees are encouraged to take Personal Leave in the year eligible, but are <br />authorized to carry over and accumulate Personal Leave within the limits <br />established in paragraph 25(d). <br /> <br />a. Accrual: All regular, full-time employees shall be credited Personal <br />Leave based on each full calendar month of employment as follows: <br /> <br />Duration of Employment Hours per Month <br />Under 6 Months……… 3 & 1/3 <br />6 Months to 5 Years…. 10 <br />Over 5 Years to 15 Years 15 & 1/3 <br />Over 15 Years……….. 16 & 2/3 <br /> <br />b. No Personal Leave shall be credited to an employee for periods when the <br />employee has been on a lay-off or leave of absence without pay for a <br />period of thirty days of more. <br /> <br />c. Personal Leave is credited to an employee on January 1st of the year <br />following its accrual. Employees leaving employment with the City in <br />good standing and after giving proper notice shall be credited and paid <br />for all personal leave then accumulated. Personal Leave pay shall be at <br />the employee’s rate of pay on the last date of employment. <br /> <br />d. Each employee may carry over Personal Leave from year to year, but the <br />total amount credited to any employee shall not exceed 520 hours at any <br />time. <br /> <br />e. Personal Leave, for periods of up to two weeks, may be taken with the <br />approval of the employee’s department head. Longer periods of Personal <br />Leave require the approval of the City Administrator. <br /> <br />f. All periods of Personal Leave must be approved in advance, except in <br />emergencies where the health or safety of a person is at risk.
