BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON JUNE 6, 2022 <br /> <br /> D.1 Approve Minutes for the May 16, 2022, City Council Meeting <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br /> <br />G.1 Approve Claims Roster <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented. <br /> <br />G.2 Approve Steven Garcia as New Public Works Mechanic <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the hiring of Steven Garcia to fill the vacant position of Public Works <br />Mechanic. Steven comes to us with years of mechanic experience as a mechanic at Delta <br />Airlines, Tousley Sports and Auto Nation. Steven will be a great asset to the City’s Public <br />Works Department. If approved, Steven would begin work on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. Staff <br />recommends Council approval to hire Steven Garcia as a Public Works Mechanic. <br /> <br />G.3 Approve Hiring of Corey Triemert as Public Works Worker <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the hiring of Corey Triemert to fill the vacant position of Public Works <br />Worker. Corey comes to us with 5 years of experience as a Public Works Worker at White Bear <br />Township and several years as an equipment operator at Park Construction. Corey is also a <br />Hugo resident. He will be a great asset to the City’s Public Works Department. If approved, <br />Corey would begin work on Monday, June 27, 2022. Staff recommends Council approval to hire <br />Corey Triemert as a Public Works Worker. <br /> <br />G.4 Approve Hiring of Riley Hollerback as Public Works Worker <br /> <br />In the 2022 City Budget document, Council included an additional position for the Public Works <br />Department. While interviewing for the position that became vacant in January, staff was very <br />pleased with the number of quality applicants we received. Because of this, staff agreed that the <br />timing was right to fill the additional position that was budgeted for. Staff is recommending the <br />hiring of Riley Hollerbach to fill the budgeted position of Public Works Worker. Riley comes to <br />us with 6 years of experience as a Public Works Worker at Washington County and several years <br />as an equipment operator at Nelson Contracting. He will be a great asset to the City’s Public <br />Works Department. If approved, Riley would begin work on Tuesday, June 21, 2022. Staff <br />recommends Council approval to hire Riley Hollerbach as a Public Works Worker. <br /> <br />G.5 Approve Hiring of Summer Seasonal Employees <br /> <br />At the second council meeting in April, the City Council approved the hiring of four summer <br />seasonal employees. At that time, staff was continuing to look for a fifth summer <br />seasonal. Since then, one of the previously hired seasonal employees, Russ Pastorious, decided <br />not to come work for the City. Staff recently received applications from two people. Staff is <br />recommending Council approval to hire these two individuals. With the approval, the total <br />number of seasonal employees would be at the budgeted five positions.
