<br />Call to Order <br /> <br />Mayor Weidt called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCIL PRESENT: Klein, Miron, Petryk, Strub, Weidt <br />COUNCIL ABSENT: None <br />OTHERS PRESENT: City Administrator Bryan Bear, City Engineer Nick Guilliams, City <br />Attorney Dave Snyder, Community Development Director Rachel Juba, City Clerk Michele <br />Lindau <br /> <br />April 18, 2022, City Council Meeting <br /> <br />Klein made motion, Miron seconded, to approve the minutes for the City Council meeting held <br />on April 18, 2022, as presented. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Approval of Agenda <br /> <br />Weidt made motion, Klein seconded, to approve the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Recognition of Retiring Legion Commander Greg Burmeister <br /> <br />Greg Burmeister had been a member of the Hugo Legion for 50 years and the Legion <br />Commander for the past seven years. Greg had announced his retirement and was turning over <br />commander duties to a new commander this spring. Greg was asked to attend this meeting to <br />receive a Certificate Appreciation in recognition of his contributions to the community. <br /> <br />Hugo Yellow Ribbon Chair Chuck Haas thanked Greg for all he did to support military <br />families. Hugo Legion General Manager Stacey Carlson said Greg had kept her grounded and <br />said a lot of people don’t see what he does behind the scenes. Fire Chief Jim Compton, Jr. <br />talked about Greg’s years on the fire department after being in the military saying he had been <br />involved in the community all his life. Compton talked about the thousands of dollars that had <br />been donated to the fire station under Greg’s leadership and said it was a privilege to serve <br />under Greg when he was deputy chief on the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Greg thanked his great staff at the Legion saying Stacey deserved as much credit. He said the <br />biggest joy he had was the work he had done at the Legion supporting the community. He <br />announced they had just signed a contract with Vanellis for a restaurant and catering that <br />would hopefully be open by June. <br /> <br />City Administrator Bryan Bear recognized the partnership the City had with the Legion. He <br />said Greg made big decisions and kept the Legion doors open.
