Page | 2 <br /> <br /> <br />• Provides technical guidance to Public Works worker and seasonal staff and <br />participates in training efforts. <br />• Assists the Public Works Supervisor in developing work schedules. <br />• Assists the Public Works Supervisor with interviewing and hiring seasonal <br />employees. <br />• Works with outside contractors and oversees and directs their work. <br />• Dispatches employees during Public Works emergencies as needed. <br />• Performs all the essential functions of a Public Works Worker. <br />• Works with the Parks Planner to develop short and long term park infrastructure <br />goals. <br />• Makes recommendations for the preparation of budget items related to the City’s park <br />infrastructure, including tools and equipment. <br />• Assists with purchasing responsibilities by researching product information, making <br />comparisons based on price, quality and specifications, and making <br />recommendations. <br />• Ensures proper maintenance and repairs of tools and equipment used to maintain the <br />City’s park infrastructure. <br />• Prepares a schedule of duties related to the maintenance of grounds, shelters, and <br />other fixtures to be performed at City maintained property. <br />• Performs routine park infrastructure inspections to determine maintenance needs. <br />• Contributes to discussions related to the City’s trails and sidewalks maintenance <br />programs. <br />• Ensures playground safety inspections are performed and deficiencies are corrected. <br />• Coordinates the removal of snow and ice from identified trails and sidewalks. <br />• Stays up to date on modern practices regarding turf, trees and park infrastructure <br />maintenance. <br />Other Duties and Responsibilities <br />• Assists with the duties of other lead positions when needed. <br />• Responds to questions and concerns from residents and handles other customer service <br />situations as directed. <br />• Promotes workplace safety at all times. <br />• Performs other duties as assigned. <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br /> Knowledge of: <br />• City streets and geography, commercial and residential areas, and snow plowing <br />routes. <br />• Practices, procedures, tools and equipment, and materials used to repair and maintain <br />public works infrastructure. <br />• DOT traffic control procedures. <br />• Utility locates. <br />• City infrastructure.
