Page | 1 <br /> <br /> Fire Chief <br />Job Description <br /> <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Reports to: City Administrator. <br /> <br />Communicates Internally with: Fire Department Officers, Firefighters, City <br />Staff. <br /> <br />Communicates Externally with: State Fire Marshal, other Fire Departments, <br />Washington County Emergency Management, Washington County Sheriff’s <br />Office, Ambulance Service Representatives, City Residents. <br /> <br />Job Overview <br />This position provides effective leadership in directing, planning, and coordinating a Paid-on- <br />Call Fire Department. The Fire Chief is responsible for all service functions of the Hugo Fire <br />Department, including but not limited to, fire protection and emergency response, fire <br />suppression, fire prevention, directing safety and training programs for personnel, managing fire <br />station facilities and equipment, administrative duties, and supervision of all fire department <br />staff. The Fire Chief responds to emergency calls and uses firefighting equipment, vehicles, and <br />tools to extinguish fires and prevent loss of life. The Fire Chief is a member of the City <br />Leadership Team and assists the City Administrator in recommending and implementing the <br />overall goals and objectives of the city. The Fire Chief also serves as the Emergency <br />Management Director and performs other duties as assigned. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Department: Fire Hours Worked: Full Time <br />Pay: Per City Salary Resolution FLSA: Exempt <br />Immediate Supervisor: City Administrator <br />Employees Supervised: Assistant Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, all Fire <br />Department employees. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
