Assures NFPA and OSHA compliance. <br />• Represents the Fire Department at City events, and to other City Departments, elected <br />officials, the general public, and outside organizations. <br /> <br />Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <br /> Knowledge of: <br />• Firefighting and emergency rescue techniques and practices. <br />• Fire behavior and fire chemistry and the effects that various fuels and materials have <br />on fire. <br />• Principles and practices of fire operations management. <br />• Emergency dispatch operations. <br /> Skill in: <br />• Maintaining the comradery within the department and providing for open and honest <br />communication. <br />• Operating firefighting equipment, tools, vehicles, and apparatus. <br />• Effectively leading first responders. <br /> Ability to: <br />• Maintain a positive, collaborative and inclusive culture within the current paid on-call <br />department. <br />• Plan, coordinate, direct, and evaluate fire operations. <br />• React effectively under pressure and to make quick and appropriate decisions. <br />• Respond professionally to stressful situations and with good stress management <br />skills. <br />• Assess emergency situations; coordinate and direct firefighting and rescue efforts as <br />rapidly as possible. <br />• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including report preparation, <br />meeting facilitation, and presentations before groups. <br />• Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time. <br />• Operate radio communication equipment, a telephone, and vehicle. <br />• See, hear, and speak to perform daily administrative responsibilities and occasionally <br />to direct operation at a fire or rescue scene.
