Council Meeting Minutes for April 17, 2023 <br />Page 2 of 6 <br />Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network – Chair Chuck Haas <br />Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network Chair Chuck Haas provided Council an update. Haas had several <br />slides he presented showing recent activities. Those activities included Burger Night, creation of <br />their new flag, and packing events. The YRN is getting a lot of requests for assistance including <br />the need for donations for a first child and help installing a hot water heater. Packing events are <br />still taking place. A young girl collected care package items in her neighborhood, and an Eagle <br />Scout is doing a packing event for his project. Students of the Forest Lake Rotary will be putting <br />together care packages again this year, and there will be a packing event on Sunday. Haas <br />showed a photo of three Forest Lake School teachers who recently took the Winter Plunge <br />through the Forest Lake Rotary to raise funds for the YRN. This month’s Burger Night Sponsor <br />is the Royal Credit Union. <br />Approval of the Consent Agenda <br />Miron made motion, Strub seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda: <br />1.Approve Claims Roster <br />2.Approve Hiring of Public Works Seasonal Employees <br />3.Approve Six-Month Extension for Administrative Intern Joe Hinzman <br />4.Approve Donation for Bayport American Legion to the Hugo Fire Department <br />5.Approve Temporary Liquor License for the Chain of Lakes Rotary for Fundraiser <br />Event on May 6, 2023 <br />6.Approve Special Event Permit for the Blacksmith Lounge for 2023 Events <br />7.Approve Preparation of Plans and Specifications for Lift Station No. 12 <br />8.Approve Personnel Policy Amendments for the Fire Department <br />9.Approve Lawful Exempt Gambling Permit for Chain of Lakes Rotary for Fundraiser <br />Event on May 6, 2023 <br />10.Approve Lawful Gambling Exempt Permit for Chain of Lakes Rotary for Fundraiser <br />Event on May 6, 2023 <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br />Approval of Claims <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Claims Roster as presented. <br />Approve Hiring of Public Works Seasonal Employees <br />Staff had requested Council approval to hire seasonal employees for the Public Works <br />Department. In the 2023 General Fund Budget, Council approved funding for six seasonal <br />employee positions. There were three seasonal workers (Martin Jorgenson, Sam Nelson and <br />Madison Siebenaler), who would be returning from last year. Staff had interviewed new potential <br />hires and recommended approval of three new seasonal employees. Seasonal Public Works
