Hugo Downtown Framework Plan Final Plan & Design Guidelines

Signage

• Downtown signage is critical to the character of the area, especially at night; all downtown
signage is subject to careful review with the City and must comply with all zoning and
ordinance requirements for size, placement, materials, etc;

• Signage and graphics should be integral to the building architecture or used as a
decorative design element. Back-lit, box signs are not acceptable downtown.

• Decorative neon, moving or other decorative sign types are desirable only when
displayed within storefront window interiors of downtown buildings.

• Corporate chains are encouraged to customize their architecture to express their design
“brand” within a design, context, and material appropriate to the character of downtown
Hugo.

Projecting or
Hanging
Sign
Wall Sign
integrated
into the
building
design
Awning sign should be located on the
awning face or fringe
