Hugo Downtown Framework Plan Final Plan & Design Guidelines <br /> <br /> <br /> Page 23 of 23 <br /> <br />Open Space and Storm Water Management <br />• New development should provide both private and public usable open space, plazas <br />etc; these spaces should be connected to existing or proposed trail and sidewalk <br />networks. <br /> <br />• The downtown area should plan cohesively for storm water management and for <br />improving the water quality of Hugo, however, where possible rain gardens or similar <br />infiltration and holding areas should be integrated into the design of parking areas; <br />design which harmonizes more groomed and landscaped areas with more natural <br />landscape is encouraged: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />• Storm water ponds, rain gardens and other storm water management or holding areas <br />shall be designed to be attractive in both flooded and dry conditions; use of native <br />plants for filtration around pond and wetlands and other sustainable design approaches <br />to site and landscape design are encouraged: <br /> <br />More formal <br />and groomed <br />landscape <br />Trail or <br />Sidewalk <br />Egg Lake <br />Filtration <br />Vegetation <br />Swales planted as a rain garden; plants <br />and soil provide filtration <br />Trail or sidewalk
