<br />BACKGROUND MEMO FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING MONDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2024 <br /> <br />D.1 December 2, 2024, City Council Meeting <br />D.2 December 4, 2024, Santa Party <br />D 3 December 5, 2024, Holiday Party <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the above minutes as presented. <br /> <br />G. 1 Approval of Claims <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approve the Claims Roster as presented <br /> <br />G 2 Approve Annual Performance Review for Public Works Worker Miguel Souffront <br /> <br />At its November 20, 2023, meeting, Council approved the hiring of Miguel Souffront as a Public <br />Works Worker with a starting date of December 4, 2023. Public Works Director Scott Anderson <br />recommends Council approve the annual performance review for Miguel Souffront. <br /> <br />G.3 Approve Annual Performance Review for Utility Lead Worker Rick Fox <br /> <br />At its November 20, 2023, meeting, Council approved the hiring of Rick Fox as a Public Works <br />Utility Lead Worker with a starting date of December 11, 2023. Public Works Director Scott <br />Anderson recommends Council approve the annual performance review for Rick Fox. <br /> <br />G.4 Approve Resignation of Planning Commissioner Corky Lessard <br /> <br />Planning Commissioner Corky Lessard has submitted his letter of resignation from the Planning <br />Commission. Staff recommends Council approve the resignation of Corky Lessard effective <br />immediately. <br /> <br />G.5 Approve Appointment of Phil Klein to the Planning Commission <br /> <br />With the resignation of Corky Lessard from the Planning Commission, Mayor Weidt <br />recommends Council approve the appointment of Phil Klein to the Planning Commission <br />effective January 1, 2025, with a term ending December 31, 2026. <br /> <br />G. 6 Approve Recommendation for Appointment of David Strub to MAWSAC <br /> <br />Soon to be former Council Member Phil Klein is unable to continue his service on the <br />Metropolitan Area Water Supply Advisory Committee as an elected official. Staff is <br />recommending Council Member David Strub be recommended to Metro Cities and the <br />Governor’s office for appointment to MAWSAC. <br /> <br />G.7 Approve Resolution on Statutory Tort Liability Limits <br /> <br />In the late 1990’s the League of Minnesota Insurance Trust required each City that obtained <br />liability coverage from them to decide whether or not to waive the statutory tort liability limits to <br />the extent of coverage purchased. Currently these limits are $500,000 per claimant and <br />$1,500,000 per occurrence. At that time the City Council opted not to waive the statutory limits. <br />LMCIT requires each member city to reaffirm their position on an annual basis. Staff <br />recommends Council approve the resolution on statutory tort limits.
