Council Meeting Minutes for July 21, 2025 <br />Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br />Yellow Ribbon Network Update - Chair Chuck Haas <br /> <br />Chair Chuck Haas provided an update on recent activities of the Hugo Yellow Ribbon Network. <br />He shared pictures of recent packing events and stated that over 96,000 pounds of supplies have <br />been sent. He talked about the past weekend’s care package event for “Operation Kinship”, <br />Family Day Lunch at Camp Ripley, Family Day at Sucker Lake, and an Easter event where the <br />YRN held the Easter Egg Hunt. Haas shared photos of care package recipients, and the most <br />recent Burger Night that was sponsored by the Centerville Lions. Culvers had donated burgers, <br />and 351 burgers were served. St. John’s Men’s Club will be the next Burger Night sponsor. <br />Upcoming events include a Family Day in September, Shoot for the Troops in August, and a <br />Youth Hunt at Wild Wings in September. Haas reported that in the last month there were over <br />9,000 views on the Network’s Facebook page. He thanked the Council for their continued <br />support. <br /> <br />Weidt commented on the wide geographic range of volunteer groups, and thanked Haas for <br />everything the Yellow Ribbon Network does to support military families. <br /> <br />Approval of Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Petryk made motion, Miron seconded, to approve the following Consent Agenda: <br /> <br />1. Approve Claims Roster <br />2. Approve Jeff Maas as New Public Works Utility Lead Worker <br />3. Approve Advertisement for Vacant Public Works Worker Position <br />4. Approve Appointment of Jordan Fahey to the Planning Commission <br />5. Approve Minor Subdivision for Barton Guthrie – 8991 130th Street North <br />6. Approve Ordinance Amending the Fence Ordinance <br />7. Approve Special Event Permit for the Wilson Tool Company Picnic on August 9, 2025 <br />8. Approve Temporary Liquor License for Hugo Lions Club for the Wilson Tool <br />Company Picnic on Saturday, August 9, 2025 <br /> <br />All Ayes. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Approve Claims Roster <br /> <br />Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Claims Roster as presented. <br /> <br />Approve Jeff Maas as New Public Works Utility Lead Worker <br /> <br />The City Council, at their July 7, 2025, meeting, gave authorization to hold interviews and select <br />an internal candidate to fill the position of Utility Lead Worker for the Public Works <br />Department. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the promotion of Jeff Maas to the <br />position of Public Works Utility Lead Worker at Pay Grade 6 (non-exempt) and the maximum <br />step of the salary matrix. <br /> <br />
