3 <br />e. Participants shall not operate any vehicle during their Ride-Along assignment. <br />f. Participants shall not handle any evidence or equipment. <br />g. Participants shall not engage in conversation with people involved in complaint <br />activity or those under the control of the Fire Department. <br />h. Participants shall follow the rules of the Program and direction of any command <br />officer or the individual to which they are assigned. <br />i. Participants are to remain in the City vehicle during the Ride-Along unless otherwise <br />directed by the supervising individual. <br />j. Participants shall wear Business or Business Casual attire. <br />k. Participants shall display Departmental issued identification during the Ride-Along <br />assignment. <br />l. Participants may carry a flashlight for purposes of illumination. <br />m. Participants are prohibited from possessing or carrying a firearm or any weapon <br />during the Ride-Along. <br />n. Participants shall not smell of, possess or consume alcoholic beverages during the <br />Ride-Along. <br />o. Participants shall not use tobacco products while in City-owned facilities, in any City- <br />owned vehicles, in other locations where tobacco use is prohibited or while in view <br />of the public. <br /> <br />SUPERVISOR’S RESPONSIBILITY <br /> <br />a. Shall review the application of the Participant to ensure a waiver of liability has been <br />signed. <br />b. Shall ensure the person reporting to Ride-Along is the same individual who has been <br />approved. <br />c. Shall review the rules of the Program with the Participant and ensure they are in <br />proper attire. <br />d. May terminate a Ride-Along due to manpower shortage, workload or some <br />unforeseen circumstances where it would not be appropriate to continue the <br />session. <br />e. Shall interview the Participant to receive feedback about the Program. A short <br />synopsis of the information will be written by the supervisor and given to the City <br />Administrator or the Fire Chief. <br />f. Should a Ride-Along experience be terminated at the request of the supervisor, the <br />City Administrator or Fire Chief shall ensure an administrative report detailing the <br />reason(s) for the decision is attached to the application. The following are <br />circumstances when the Ride-Along experience may be ended.
