<br />: <br /> Page 17 <br />offences or two or more driving under the influence of alcohol or drug offenses in the <br />previous 60 calendar months, may not be hired or transferred into the position. <br />c. City positions that require commercial motor vehicle driving will be subject to DOT pre- <br />employment drug and alcohol testing rules and restrictions and subject to random <br />testing. See Appendix A - Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy <br />d. The City Council may require that an employee live within a specific area or within a <br />determined response time to their place of work, if such requirement is reasonably <br />related to the duties of the employee. <br />e. Favoritism will not be shown to any person with respect to hiring, tenure, compensation, <br />and terms of employment, assignments, promotion, or privileges of employment based <br />on their kinship or nonprofessional relationship with another employee of the City. <br />f. No employee shall appoint, employ or participate in a hiring decision involving any person <br />within his/her immediate family. City employees shall not directly supervise an immediate <br />family member. Immediate family members shall not be employed in the supervisory- <br />subordinate relationship even if it results from marriage after the employment relation <br />was formed. All employees shall refrain from intervening in any employment matter <br />involving an immediate family member and shall refrain from involvement in any <br />employment matter which may be viewed as a conflict of interest. <br />g. Consideration for the appointment of veterans will be provided as required by M.S. <br />197.46 to 197.48. <br /> <br />Section 3.04 Additional Firefighter Requirements <br /> <br />a. To be eligible for a firefighter position, all fire department personnel must meet the <br />following requirements: <br />• Be 18 years of age or over. <br />• Be a high school graduate or equivalent. <br />• Hold a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license. <br />• Have a primary residence within an eight-minute response time of the fire station. <br />• Be able bodied and fit for duty. <br /> <br />b. New Applicant Requirements <br />• Complete the application for employment and an Authorization for Release of <br />Information form. <br />• Successfully complete and pass the background check, physical exam and drug and <br />alcohol screening. <br />• Pass a criminal and driving record check. <br />• Pass Firefighter Physical Fitness Test. <br />• Pass medical exam provided by the Fire Department. <br />• Pass personal evaluation provided by Fire Department <br />
