<br />: <br /> Page 47 <br />Section 11.28 Absence Without Leave (AWOL) <br /> <br />An employee will be considered absent without leave (AWOL) when they fail to report to work <br />as scheduled and: <br /> <br />a. Do not have any remaining approved paid or unpaid time off (including Personal Leave, <br />Compensatory time or ESST), <br />b. Do not qualify for any other type of leave (such as FMLA, MNPL, parental leave, or jury <br />duty), <br />c. And have not received prior written approval for the absence. <br /> <br />AWOL absences are unpaid and may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination <br />of employment. If an employee is absent without leave for three (3) consecutive scheduled <br />workdays and fails to notify their supervisor, the City will consider this a voluntary resignation <br />and process the employee’s separation accordingly. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 12 RESPECTFUL WORKPLACE POLICY <br /> <br />Maintaining a respectful public service work environment is a shared responsibility. This policy is <br />intended to express to all employees, volunteers, members of boards and commissions, <br />applicants, contractors/vendors, elected officials and members of the public the expectations by <br />the City of Hugo for respectful workplace conduct both in the workplace and other City- <br />sponsored social events. See Appendix G for full policy. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 13 POSSESSION AND USE OF DANGEROUS WEAPONS <br /> <br />Possession or use of a dangerous weapon is prohibited on City property, in City vehicles, or in any <br />personal vehicle which is being used for City business. This includes employees with valid permits <br />to carry firearms. <br />The following exceptions to the dangerous weapons prohibition are as follows: <br />a. Employees legally in possession of a firearm for which the employee holds a valid permit, <br />if required, and said firearm is secured within an attended personal vehicle or concealed <br />from view within a locked unattended personal vehicle while that person is working on <br />City property. <br />b. A person who is showing or transferring the weapon or firearm to a police officer as part <br />of an investigation. <br />c. Police officers and employees who are in possession of a weapon or firearm in the scope <br />of their official duties. <br />d. Employees legally hunting on City owned property while not on duty. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 14 SEPARATION FROM SERVICE <br />
