Minutes of the <br /> Washington County Planning Advisory Commission <br /> Meeting held May 28, 1974 <br /> • <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. in the Washington County Office <br /> Bldg Cafeteria by Chairman Lundquist. <br /> • <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT <br /> Bill Lundquist, Pat Gannaway°, Ken Whitaker, Wes Scheel, Harold Hohlt, Graham <br /> Anderson, Ed Lemmerman, Ed Spiess, and Glenn Brown. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT <br /> Bill Peterson, Lyle Doerr, Bill Schwab, Judy Screaton, Jim Broede, Chuck Swanson, <br /> Paul Johnson, Peggy Ryan, Don Raleigh; and Martin Ziebell. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the April 30, 1974, meeting were approved as submitted. <br /> PROPOSED 3M RESEARCH CENTER <br /> Bill Schwab pointed out the location and boundaries of the center and Bill Peterson <br /> gave a report from Design Planning Assoc, Inc which indicated the impact to be <br /> expected from a development of that size (550+Acres). The increased housing <br /> demand for the area, transportation facilities to be expanded, and the general' effect <br /> of the project as a whole, were Qonsidered. Chuck Swanson said roads notreviousl <br /> p Y • <br /> on the County's 10-year plan would need to be reconstructed and the road program <br /> will be changed greatly in the next five years. <br /> M-W BAC LETTER TO METRO SEWER BOARD <br /> • At a meeting held in early May, the Minnesota-Wisconsin Boundary Area Commission <br /> discussed the proposed sewer plan for Washington County and then drafted a letter <br /> to the Metropolitan Sewer Board which presented their position regarding the proposed <br /> sewer plan. The Planning Advisory Commission discussed this letter and found it <br /> to be in accordance with the positions previously stated by Washington County. <br /> UP-DATE ON PARKS <br /> Bill Schwab brought the Commission up to date on progress at the County's Lake Elmo <br /> Park, Bone Lake Park and County South Park. There was discussion on jurisdiction <br /> and administration of Lake Elmo Park should it become a regional park. • G Anderson <br /> moved that the County acquire and develop the park and then go to the legislature for <br /> operating funds. Seconded by E Lemmerman. Carried. <br /> Priority of park development was considered and it was determined that it would be <br /> most advisable for the County to develop the South Park in Cottage Grove and also <br /> acquire a farm located northwest of Square Lake Park with 1974-75 funds. It was <br /> noted that other park sites to be considered would be at Pine Point and Big Marine. <br /> Bill Schwab reported that a letter seeking members for a park committee was sent to <br /> all communities but responses had not been substantial to date. <br />
