• <br /> Minutes of the Washington County <br /> Planning Advisory Commission <br /> June 25, 1974 <br /> CALL TO ORDER <br /> The meeting wascalled to order at 7:30 p.m, in the Washington County Office <br /> Building Cafeteria by Chairman Lundquist. <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT <br /> Bill Lundquist, Ken Whitaker, Harold Hohlt, Pat Gannaway, James Crawford, <br /> Ed Spiess, Ed Lemmerman, and Fred Ottem. <br /> OTHERS PRESENT <br /> Bill Schwab, Mary Peterson, Don Raleigh, Dave Champion, Chuck Swanson, <br /> Paul Johnson, John Waldo, Neil Herman, John O'Connell, Richard Arney, <br /> Lowell Torseth, Ralph Neubel, Carole Salus, Leone Stiefel, Teddy Bell, <br /> Bob Davis, 011ie Byrum, and Jim Broede. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Minutes of the May 28, 1974, meeting were approved as submitted. <br /> REZONING OF KERN PROPERTY FROM LB TO GB <br /> The property in question is located west of the A & W Root Beer Stand and <br /> east and north of the Crown Auto Store. The front portion of this property is <br /> zoned general business and the rear portion is zoned limited business. The <br /> The request brought to the Planning Advisory Commission was to rezone the <br /> rear portion to. general business. ;: <br /> Mr Richard Arney, representing the Nash-Finch Company, discussed with the . . <br /> Planning Advisory Commission the public hearing held by Stillwater Township. • <br /> He also presented. a site plan showing the recommendations requested by Still- <br /> water Township. <br /> Mr Herman, of the Nash-Finch Company, explained to the Planning Advisory <br /> Commission the type of business the Company wants to put in and its operation. <br /> • He stated this would be a discount grocery which is the only one of its kind in <br /> the area. He also said the store would carry a limited amount of produce and <br /> no fresh meats. There was some discussion between Mr Herman and the Planning <br /> Advisory Commission as to the need of such a store. <br /> A motion was made to recommend to the Washington County Board of Commissioners <br /> that they approve the rezoning of the property from limited business to general <br /> business provided the Nash-Finch Company conforms with the stipulations set <br /> forth by Stillwater Township. Carried. <br /> METROPOLITAN GROWTH CONTROL. <br /> Mr 011ie Byrum,. of the Metropolitan Council Staff, discussed with the Planning <br /> Advisory Commission the Metropolitan Development Framework. • He talked about <br /> • the areas around the Twin Cities that are fully developed, active urbanization <br /> and the free standing communities. He showed drawings indicating the five <br /> planning areas which are: (1) Metro Centers, Downtowns Minneapolis and St Paul; <br />
