The Parks Commission postponed the strategic planning session with Ron McRoberts. The
next planning meeting will be at the May 12, regularly scheduled meeting. Objectives will be
formulated and prioritized and a time line will be established at the time.
2. Lions Park Update: The equipment is all in and has been installed. Additional work still needs
to be completed as includes the following: the snow plow damaged one of the edge timbers
and that still needs to be repaired; final grading and seeding needs to be completed; the extra
dirt on site will be hauled away.
3. Johnny Johnson, the play structure supplier, helped install the equipment. He recommended
that lights be installed; possibly hang one on the water tower. This would increase safety and
help to deter vandals. Members of the Lions Club will be coordinating lighting installation.
4. Kathy commented that the DNR has contacted the developers working on the south side of
Oneka Lake regarding cleaning up the boat landing area.
5. The parks committee is still looking for a large parcel of land for a community athletic park
facility.
6. The park sign language was discussed. Questions arose regarding curfew and the sheriffs
policies on public drinking. Laurie will do some research on this and let the Commission know.
