3 <br /> <br />Summary <br /> <br />Due to the changing needs of the Department, and for cost efficiency, the future fleet of trucks should <br />be modified. Instead of replacing the tender in 2032 and the heavy rescue in 2034, a new <br />pumper/tanker truck would be purchased and delivered in 2029. The existing tender would be sold in <br />2029. Secondly, instead of replacing a brush truck with another dedicated brush truck in 2026, a new <br />brush/rescue combination truck would be purchased in 2026. The existing heavy rescue truck and <br />existing brush truck would both be sold this year. <br /> <br />Recommendations <br /> <br />1. Authorize the purchase a “demo” brush/rescue truck from Fire Safety USA. <br />2. Direct staff to return to the Council with a recommended plan to advertise and sell Rescue 1, <br />unit ID 7102-04 and Brush 2, unit ID 6103-06. <br />3. Authorize staff to adjust the CIP for future large Fire Department apparatus to include a re- <br />chassis after a 25-year interval with full replacement at 50 years. <br />4. Authorize the Hugo Fire Department truck committee to create a formal specification for a <br />new build pumper/tanker for delivery in 2029. <br /> <br />Future changes to our operations, call type changes, future city-wide development, additional fire <br />stations, staffing models, the ability to re-chassis, etc., could all affect the types and number of <br />apparatuses in our fleet. City Council input would be necessary to determine the model and direction <br />of the fire department going forward.
