CITY OF HUGO <br />WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002- 356 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA, <br />REPEALING EXISTING CHAPTER 278, "STREET NAMES," AND REPLACING IT WITH <br />THE FOLLOWING: <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, <br />MINNESOTA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the City of Hugo for many years has used the "Uniform Street Naming and <br />Property Number System for Washington County, Minnesota," as contained in Chapter 278 of the <br />Hugo City Code; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City is desirous of achieving additional flexibility in the naming of streets <br />while still maintaining a coherent and uniform system of naming and numbering streets and <br />properties within the City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby ordained as follows: <br />Section 1. The existing Chapter 278 of the Hugo City Code, Sections 278-1, 278-2 and <br />278-3, is repealed in its entirety and replaced with the following: <br />Section 2. Administration. The Building Official is responsible for maintaining the <br />uniform naming and numbering system provided for in this Ordinance, and the performance of this <br />responsibility shall be guided by the provisions of this Ordinance. Assignment of street names and <br />building numbers by the Building Official shall be final. The Building Official may assign <br />additional names or numbers in accordance with the Washington County Uniform System <br />whenever property has been subdivided, a new front entrance opened, or undue hardship has been <br />worked on any property owner. <br />Section 3. Assigning of Names. <br />A. The developer, builder or owner's representative at the time of submitting a <br />preliminary plat or plan shall submit a street naming plan for review by the Building Official and <br />the City Staff. Such plan shall be reviewed, approved and modified by the Building Official and <br />City Staff not more than sixty (60) days after the approval of the plat or plan by the City Council, <br />and the assignment of the names and numbers by the Building Official shall be final. <br />B. City streets shall not be required to fall into any pattern of alphabetical sequence. <br />Rev. 02/12/02 <br />1 <br />
