CITY OF HUGO <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2002- 368 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />ESTABLISHING A HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HUGO, WASHINGTON COUNTY, <br />MINNESOTA, DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes §471.193 authorizes a City to establish a Heritage <br />Preservation Committee to preserve and promote historic resources; and <br />. WHEREAS, Whereas, the City has rich historical resources which may be lost or <br />overlooked as the City grows; and <br />WHEREAS, the city is desirous of fostering civic pride in the beauty and notable <br />accomplishments of the past and promoting awareness of the heritage of the City for the education <br />and general welfare of the city's residents and visitors. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby ordained by the City Council of the City of Hugo, <br />Washington County, Minnesota, that Chapter 92 of the City Code of the City of Hugo is hereby <br />established providing as follows: <br />Section 92-1. <br />1. Commission Estahlished. There is hereby established a City of Hugo Heritage <br />Preservation Commission. <br />2. Power-, and Duties. The powers and duties of the Commission shall be those which <br />are specifically set forth in this Ordinance. The Commission shall have the power to: <br />(a) Collect and distribute information, artifacts or materials which promote the <br />education, awareness and enrichment of citizens and visitors concerning historical matters. <br />i Rev. 12/17/02 <br />(b) To make recommendations to the City Council concerning the collection, <br />maintenance, distribution or display of historical artifacts or information or <br />the creation of historical archives relating to the history of the City and to <br />make recommendations to the City Council concerning the promotion of <br />education and awareness of the history of the City. <br />1 <br />
