Hugo City Council Meeting Minutes for March 16,2015 Page 2 of 6 Presentation of GFOA Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting—and Finance Director Ron Otkin and Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse Finance Director Ron Otkin has received notification from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada that the Hugo Finance Department has received the 21"Certificate of Achievement for excellence in financial reporting. This certificate is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting,and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Mayor Tom Weidt and Council recognized Finance Director Ron Otkin and Accounting Clerk Anna Wobse and congratulated them on this achievement. o Fire Department Annual Report-Fire Chief Kevin Colvard Fire Chief Kevin Colvard presented the 2014 Fire Department Annual Report to the Council. Kevin reviewed the operations of the Fire Department, staffing,and provided numbers on the different types and times of calls. He talked about the City's partnership with White Bear Lake ambulance service and the types of calls they responded to. He compared the number calls over the years,which showed an increase. Kevin provided information on training and explained the many events the Fire Department participates in. Goals for 2015 include recruitment and retention, five-year CIP,discussion on ambulance service,and continued leadership development. Firefighter David Jensen talked about the video he created for the Department for recruitment. The Council thanked the Department for all they do. Approval of the Consent Agenda Weidt made motion,Miron seconded,to approve the following Consent Agenda: 1. Approval of Claims 2. Approve Annual Performance Review for Finance Director Ron Otkin 3. Approve Special Event Permit for 2015 Senior Games 5K& 10K Bike Race 4. Approve Purchase of Public Works Department Water Truck All Ayes. Motion carried. Approval of Claims Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the Claims Roster as presented. Approve Annual Performance Review for Finance Director Ron Otkin Ron Otkin was hired as the City's Finance Director on April 3, 1989. For the past 26 years,Ron has conducted duties related to the City's Finance Department which includes the annual preparation of the City's budget as well as financing of public improvement projects and accounts payable and accounts receivable. Adoption of the Consent Agenda approved the annual performance review for Finance Director Ron Otkin.
