The City staff has recalculated its revenue and <br />expenditure figures for Council review noting that the proposed budget <br />calls for revenues in the amount of $904,668.00, and the revises{ <br />expenditure budget figures are $908,.381.00. There are several areas that <br />the staff has discussed to assist the Council in balancing the budget: <br />1.. Reduction in the amount earmarked for recodification of the municipal <br />code ($15,000). <br />2. Reducing the administrative intern from a six-month position to a <br />three-month position ($6,240). <br />3. Consider the need to replace the 1959 'fire truck in the Fire <br />Department utilizing the sale of equipment certificates of <br />indebtedness in 1991. This would be a two to three year process, and <br />the estimated cost of vehicle replacement would be between $125,000 <br />and $150,000. <br />4. Tie our emergency medical training contributions, and other <br />contributions, to the local government aids received from the State of <br />Minnesota. As the local government aids are reduced, the Council may <br />want to consider reduction in these contributions. <br />The City Council will again review the 1991 budget on or before 12/3/90 <br />1991 SPECIAL.. FUND REVIEW <br />In addition to general fund operations, and the City's utility funds, <br />budgets are also prepared for debt service and special projects. The <br />three major projects proposed for 1991 have been funded previously :and <br />would be scheduled for implementation next year. The projects in question <br />are as follows: <br />1. E:lmcr'est Avenue - road paving $210,490. <br />?. Purchase of police squad car $13,500. <br />3. Water management study $33,089. <br />AUTHCIR I Z. The City Council was <br />provided with a copy of the bid advertisement, with the anticipated start <br />date for work being October ?, 1990. <br />Vail made motion, Jesinski seconded, to advertise for bids for <br />improvements to the City's softball diamonds, with an anticipated starting <br />date of October 2, 1990. <br />All aye.
