City Council meeting of October 15, 1990 <br />Page 6 <br />She indicated that Kenco Construction, residential home builders, was in <br />trouble in other cities, and wanted to know if the City checked them out. <br />Mayor Atkinson and the City Administrator responded. Mrs. Kathy <br />Schowtchan addressed the Council, and stated that she had a letter at home <br />from Mary LaPlant, dated early last spring, which recommended speed limits <br />and signs be installed on Oneka Lake Blvd. She stated that the action by <br />the City Council to have these signs installed did not follow the <br />recommendations of Mrs. LaPlant. Mrs. Schowtchan also stated that she has <br />a letter at home from the City Building Inspector condemning her <br />fireplace. She stated that there was a contractor in Hugo who had built a <br />large number of faulty fireplaces in the City, and the lives of <br />firefighters would be endangered by this individual. She wanted to know <br />what the City was going to do about it. The City Administrator suggested <br />that if Mrs' Schowtchan wanted to pursue this matter, she should do so in <br />writing, with specifics, to the local and state fire marshal, with proper <br />documentation to substantiate her allegations. He then stated that he <br />would check on this matter with the Building Inspector' <br />McAllister made motion, Olson seconded, to adjourn at 8:15 PM. <br />All aye.
